Международният форум „Истина и софистика“ ще се състои на 14-ти и 15-ти март в Нова конферентна зала на Софийски университет. Форумът продължава философските срещи, организирани от Центъра по философия към Токийския университет (UTCP) и Софийския литературоведски семинар (СЛС), през 2013г. върху „Метаморфоза и катастрофа“ и през 2015 върху „Възвишеното и das Unheimliche“ (март 2015 г., София) и върху „Литературните фигури“(декември 2015, Токио). Тази година форумът ще се провежда в два модула – симпозиум, който в свободен разговор ще обсъжда темата за истината и маските на истината през диалога на Платон „Софист“ и трактата на Лонгин „За възвишеното“. Вторият модул включва две публични лекции, които ще повдигнат отново въпроса „що е философия“. Това е движението, което разкрива нарушаването на грацията, неграциозността, появяваща се помежду бога и марионетката. Тази неграциозност е приписана на смутената от съзнанието гравитация. Тя е мястото на раздвоение, отворено между бога и марионетката и заето от човека (и човешкото съзнание) като сцена на изгубената грация. Най-сетне идва движението, което обещава възвръщане на грацията.

Не вярваме в суеверието на юбилеите, но шестдесетгодишният юбилей на професор Миглена Николчина е прекрасен повод да се засвидетелства уважението към многостранното й творчество, което създава, споява и поддържа общности, допринася за въвеждането на нови проблематики, нови въпроси и нови перспективи. Като човек на науката, като преподавателка, като авторка на поезия и проза, в продължение на повече от тридесет години Миглена Николчина разпитва и обговаря границите на човешкото, стои в основата на стотици начинания, пресича пределите на дисциплини и полета. Форумът Парачовешкото: грация и гравитация е покана хубавите разговори, които тя винаги е провокирала и вдъхновявала, да продължат.
Онова, което минава като безпокойство през книгите на Миглена Николчина е разбирането, че няма как да се породи истинско мислене без памет, но също така и тревожното питане: къде са местата и средите, които интензифицират критическата мисъл днес. Това, което може да разчетем както в теоретичните, така и в творческите й практики, е грижа за настоящето, грижа за произвеждане на идното, грижа за презареждане на социалното въображение. И главното: поставянето на човешкото като незавършен проект и дирене на нови гравни и антигравни полета пред него.

The Sofia Literary Theory Seminar : 100 years of Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis

Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis was published for the first time in 1915, in the October issue of Die Weißen Blätter, so October 2015 is being celebrated worldwide as the 100th anniversary since the appearance of the uncanny story of Gregor Samsa. This also makes 100 years of theoretical tackling of the Metamorphosis, which drew the attention of numerous outstanding philosophers, literary theoreticians and writers of the 20^th and 21^st century including Alain Badiou, Albert Camus, Alenka Zupančič, Catherine Malabou, Georges Bataille, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, Giorgio Agamben, Jacques Derrida, Jean-Paul Sartre, Judith Butler, Jorge Luis Borges,  Julia Kristeva, Martin Heidegger, Maurice Blanchot, Merab Mamardashvili, Michel Foucault, Mladen Dolar, Slavoj Žižek, Theodor Adorno, Tzvetan Stoyanov, Tzvetan Todorov, Walter Benjamin, etc. Certain paradigmatic interpretations of Kafka’s work forcefully delineate the interpretative fields of the 1960s and 1970s. We might even say that they provide a red thread in discussions regarding the status of the short story and of the space of literature per se.

The Sofia Literary Theory Seminar dedicated a year of collective effort to the careful reading of Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Through the prism of this history, at a colloquium which took place on October 21 at the Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski”, its members offered their own perspective to the heterogeneous trends in contemporary debates. Their approach was open to the spheres of philosophy and literature as the grid for analysing Kafka’s work, but also to political science, political economy, sociology, and other areas of thought. Central to the discussion was the concept of metamorphosis in its potential for a constructive approach to the problems of fiction and fictional modelling. A more general wager of the discussion was the question of the status of literary theory today.

100 години от „Метаморфозата“ на Франц Кафка

представя своята перспектива към

„Метаморфозата“ на Франц Кафка излиза за първи път в октомврийския брой на списание „Белите страници“ (“Die Weißen Blätter”) през 1915 г., което е повод в световен мащаб този месец да бъде отбелязвана 100 годишнината от появата на обезпокоително-странната история на Грегор Замза. Това са същевременно сто години на теоретични, философски и критически подхващания на „Метаморфозата“, към която се обръщат редица видни философи и литературоведи на XX и ХХI в.: Юлия Кръстева, Цветан Стоянов, Цветан Тодоров, Мераб Мамардашвили, Катрин Малабу, Камю, Сартр, Хайдегер, Батай, Бланшо, Борхес, Адорно, Бенямин, Фуко, Дельоз и Гатари, Дерида, Агамбен, Зупанчич, Долар, Жижек, Бътлър и др. Парадигматични интерепретации на творчеството на Кафка с особена сила очертават интерпретативни нагласи през 60-те и 70-те. Дори може да говорим, че те представляват червена нишка в теоретични дискурс за статута на разказa, както и за самото литературно пространство.
Софийският литературоведски семинар – и по-конкретно Радосвет Коларов, Дарин Тенев, Миглена Николчина, Камелия Спасова, Еньо Стоянов и Боян Манчев – в продължение на изминалата една година се заеха с бавно четене на „Метаморфозата“ на Кафка. През призмата на тази история те ще се опитат да предложат собствената си перспектива към разрояващите се тенденции в съвременните философски и литературоведски дебати. Кръглата маса е интердисциплинарно отворена не само към полетата на литература и философия, където се полага творчеството на Кафка, но и към други сфери на мисленето. Централно за форума ще бъде понятието метаморфоза и възможностите то да се мисли като конструктивно за фикцията и фикционалните светове. По общият залог на подобна обсъждане е питането за статута на теорията днес.

CARPA4

The Colloquium on Artistic Research in Performing Arts CARPA4 brought together 70 experts in their fields from 13 different countries to the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki on 10 – 13 June, 2015. Colloquiums theme was The Non-Human and the Inhuman in Performing Arts – Bodies, Organisms and Objects in Conflict.

CARPA4 observed critically anthropocentrism in performing arts and wondered the meaning of objects and non-human extent in arts and artistic research. The theme was approached from different perspectives by the colloquium’s keynote speakers Professors Peta Tait, Timothy Morton, and Boyan Manchev.

CARPA is a biennual international colloquium that focuses on performance art and artistic research. The colloquium is organised by the Performing Arts Research Centre (Tutke) of the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.

Proceedings of CARPA4, including articles from the accepted presentations, will be published in NIVEL – an open access web publication, by December 2015. We are happy to include different types of papers, presentations and workshop reports including images, video and audio clips in these proceedings of the colloquium.

“The Sublime and the Uncanny”

The international forum „The Sublime and the Uncanny“ will be held between the 2nd and the 4th of March 2015 in the New Conference Room of the Sofia University. It is organized by the University of Tokyo Center for Philosophy (UTCP), the Sofia Literary Theory Seminar and the Cultural Centre of Sofia University. The forum is interdisciplinary and focuses on the notions of ‘the Sublime’ and ‘das Unheimliche’, which play a crucial role not only in 20th century but also in contemporary critical discourses.

It will pose the question of the correlation and heuristic potential of these notions in the time of redefinition of the understanding of human intellect, respectively – the status of the (in)human. The forum will expose in a new perspective the topics of the „Metamorphosis and Catastrophe“ symposium, held at the beginning of November 2013.

Кръглата маса беше централното и заключително събитие на националната конференция „Наследството на лингвистиката в българската литературна теория”, която се състоя на 27 и 28 ноември 2014 г. в СУ с организатори направлението по Теория на литературата към Института за литература при БАН, катедра „Теория и история на литературата“ в СУ „Св. Климент Охридски” и Културният център на Софийския университет. Самата конференция е следваща стъпка в осъществяването на започнатия в предишните две конференции мащабен теоретичен проект по анамнеза на ключови понятия, концепции и мислители с оглед на българската литературоведска общност. „Изплъзващият се предмет на литературознанието. Невидимата школа” открои невидимото сговаряне и концептуалните и тематични връзки в делото на ключови за българското литературознание фигури – М. Янакиев, Н. Георгиев и Р. We co-organized an international symposium “Metamorphosis and Catastrophe” at Sofia University, Bulgaria (from October 31 to November 2, 2013). The symposium was organized by Profs. Boyan Manchev (New Bulgarian University), Darin Tenev (Sofia University) and Yasuo Kobayashi (University of Tokyo). Around fifteen participants joined from Tokyo, Paris and Sofia.

The Linguistic Legacy in (Bulgarian) Literary Theory

The conference The Linguistic Legacy in (Bulgarian) Literary Theory will take place on 27-29 November 2014 in Sofia University, Sofia, Bulgaria. It is organized by the Sofia University Department of Literary Theory and the Department of Literary Theory at the Institute for Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is the third conference in a sequence which began with The Elusive Object of Literary Theory: the Invisible School of Miroslav Yanakiev, Nikola Georgiev and Radosvet Kolarov [November 2012] and Enlightenment versus Ideologeme (Tzvetan Stoyanov, Atanas Natev, Dimitar Avramov) [November 2013]. The ambition of the forthcoming gathering is to be the next step in the anamnesis and re-functionalization of key terms, concepts and thinkers in the field of literary theory both in Bulgaria, where it had a vital role to play, and elsewhere.
The conference sets as its task the foregrounding of the interactions between literary theory and linguistics and the (d)effects of the current separation between the two fields in order to throw new light on the role of generative figures like Ferdinand de Saussure and Gustave Guillaume, on the controversies surrounding the Russian formalists and Mikhail Bakhtin, on the seminal early work of Tzvetan Todorov and Julia Kristeva, on the multifarious influence of Yuri Lotman and the Tartu school, as well as the heterogeneous contribution of Bulgarian linguists (Georgi Gerdzhikov, Krasimir Manchev, Tzanko Mladenov, Yordan Penchev, Miroslav Yanakiev) to Bulgarian literary theory.
This specific perspective is expected to further the exploration carried out by the two previous forums and produce a more complex understanding of the theoretical context in the second half of the 20^th century with a view to both the achievements of literary theory and the setbacks, criticisms  and blatant hostilities it has encountered. We believe that revisiting the political implications that literary theory used to have vis-à-vis ideological repression will bring into focus its potential for addressing the challenges that critical thinking faces today. Proposals for individual papers or panel discussions can be submitted at linguisticslegacy@gmail.com no later than 15.10.2014.
